PC Guidance to Complete Membership Application Form Online

1) Finding and Opening the Membership Application Form

Go to the Chiswell Green website Home page and click on the Join Us tab. You will see a link to the membership form. Click on the link. Depending on the web browser in use and way it is configured, it may open the form directly or may ask whether you wish to open or save the form.

If you are asked, select the option to save the form, and save it on your PC disk in a folder of your choice.

If the form opens directly in the web browser, you first need to click on the Save icon (Firefox icon, Edge icon) on the right near the top to save it on your PC disk in a folder of your choice.

Please DO NOT TRY to fill in the form in the web browser even if it appears to let you. If you try to fill in the form using the Microsoft Edge browser, it will replace all spaces with "&".

Saving the form on the PC disk to fill it in will save you printing the form and, if you use Bank Transfer payment, posting the form and cheque back.

Open the file explorer (Yellow Folder icon) to open up your saved files. Find the folder you saved the form in and double click to open it in a PDF reader (Adobe Acrobat Reader recommended).

If you do not have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your PC, you can download it free from the Adobe website. Click on the blue Download Acrobat Reader button and save the file.  Then run it to install Acrobat Reader.

2) Filling in the Membership Application Form

With your mouse, click into the membership form's first box (u3a Member 1: First Name) which will activate the flashing cursor in that box. You can then use the keyboard to type in your First Name. When finished, click into the Surname box. Type in your Surname.

Click into the Address box to select it and type in the address. Just repeat at every box to select and type in. Please put an X in the appropriate box for the Yes/No and payment method questions. You may have to scroll down to get to all the boxes

3) Emailing the Membership Application Form

When you have finished and read the clauses on page two, click on the Save icon (Acrobat Reader ) to save the completed form.

Open your email application and create a new email. Fill in the Membership Secretary’s email address (membership@chiswellgreenu3a.org.uk), the subject and a brief message.

Attach the saved membership form to the email, often a paperclip icon, and send it.
